Revolutionizing Healthcare with AI & Autonomous Systems | Autoyos
Autoyos, a pioneering health tech startup, is making waves in the healthcare industry by addressing key gaps in care delivery through autonomous systems and AI-driven solutions. Co-founded by Dr. Bharathkumar Hegde and Vijayashri Bahubali Nagavi Company’s mission is to bridge the gap between care providers and care seekers with innovative, accessible and scalable technology.
The journey of Autoyos began with a personal experience that ignited a spark in Dr. Hegde’s mind. When his mother faced eye issues in their village, Dr. Hegde realized the difficulties of accessing specialized eye care in rural areas. With no eye doctor available in the nearest town, he had to spend an entire day traveling to find medical help. This challenging situation inspired him to develop a system that could provide eye care anywhere, anytime. Through conversations with care providers and patients, he recognized two significant problems: dependence on skilled resources and the need for dedicated infrastructure. This insight gave birth to the idea of autonomous healthcare systems, and thus, Autoyos was founded.
Dr. Bharathkumar Hegde: A Visionary from a Rural Background
Dr. Bharathkumar Hegde’s journey to founding Autoyos is rooted in both personal experience and a strong educational foundation. Coming from a village near town of Siddapur, Uttara Kannada District, Karnataka. He completed his education up to 12th grade in his native village. He then pursued B.E. from SJCE Mysore, followed by MTech from IIT Delhi, and earned his PhD from IISc Bangalore. His exposure to healthcare challenges in rural, semi-urban, and urban settings, coupled with his deep knowledge of AI use cases and technological advancements, helped him identify innovative solutions to fill the gaps in healthcare delivery. These experiences formed the basis for creating Autoyos.
Empowering the Future of Healthcare with Technology
At the core of Autoyos’s vision is the aim to create scalable, effective solutions that decentralize healthcare delivery. Dr. Hegde believes the healthcare industry is moving toward preventive care and decentralized services—a lesson underscored by the COVID-19 pandemic. Autoyos, through its technology driven solutions, seeks to empower both care providers and care seekers by ensuring accessibility, convenience, and quality care with a focus in eye care domain.
The co-founder Vijayashri Nagavi, a Biomedical Engineer from SJCE,Mysore with over six years of experience in healthcare software development, plays a critical role in shaping the technological advancements at Autoyos. Together with their team, they have designed solutions that redefine healthcare delivery.
EyeD: A Preventive Eye Care App for the Digital World
One of Autoyos’s flagship products is the EyeD app, designed to combat the rising issue of Dry Eye Disease, a globally underdiagnosed condition caused by excessive screen time. EyeD is an AI-powered app that helps users reduce screen-induced eye strain by providing Smart Blink reminders when the user’s blink rate drops, a common cause of dry eyes.
EyeD goes beyond simple blink reminders, offering users eye hygiene tips, blink exercises, and an Eye Health Diary to track symptoms and monitor progress. With over 12,000 users, many of whom are younger individuals heavily reliant on screens for work, education, and entertainment, EyeD has quickly become a valuable tool for maintaining eye health in the digital age.
In the future, EyeD will evolve into a comprehensive platform connecting symptomatic users with the right care providers through advanced screening techniques, powered by AI and innovative algorithms.
iDEA: AI-Enabled Multispectral Imaging for Eye Care
Autoyos’s other key innovation is the iDEA AI-enabled multispectral imaging system, which captures images of the eye across multiple wavelengths to provide clinicians with critical information for diagnosing Dry Eye Disease. What makes iDEA unique is its ability to provide a holistic view of the tear film—critical in diagnosing dry eye—while also being accessible in both clinical and non-clinical settings. This system empowers healthcare providers to deliver effective care to a larger population, even outside traditional healthcare settings.
Through iDEA, Autoyos addresses a pressing market need for affordable, scalable dry eye screening solutions. As Dry Eye Disease affects an estimated 30% of the global population, Autoyos is poised to make a significant impact by preventing severe cases and reducing the cost and time associated with treating the condition.
The Power of Autonomous Systems and AI in Healthcare
Autoyos has placed autonomous systems at the core of its product development. By understanding the pain points of both care providers and patients, the company creates solutions that minimize dependence on skilled resources and infrastructure. This is achieved through a combination of AI/ML models, imaging systems, and a closed-loop feedback mechanism that mimics a trained operator, enabling care providers to serve patients more efficiently.
The integration of AI into Autoyos’s products enhances functionality by analyzing complex patterns that clinicians and operators might miss. AI reduces turnaround time, eliminates variability in diagnosis, and provides scalable, affordable solutions that can be accessed across diverse healthcare settings.
Market Impact and the Future of Autoyos
Autoyos’s innovative solutions, EyeD and iDEA, target the growing demand for preventive and decentralized healthcare. The Dry Eye Disease Screening & Diagnosis market alone is projected to reach USD 6 billion globally, and Autoyos aims to play a critical role in addressing this need.
The impact of Autoyos’s technology is evident in its early successes, with over 12,000 EyeD users and plans to prevent more than 2,000 severe Dry Eye cases in India in the next two years. The company also has ambitious goals of preserving the quality of life for over 30 million patients in India by 2029.
Looking ahead, Autoyos is set to expand its product offerings, including the upcoming EyeD PC version, which is expected to provide even more comprehensive eye care solutions. To join the early access program for the PC app, users can register through Autoyos’s online form.
Shaping the Future of Health Tech
Dr. Hegde and his team at Autoyos are committed to staying ahead of industry trends by continuously developing scalable solutions that bring healthcare closer to patients. The company’s focus on preventive care, AI integration, and autonomous systems makes it well-positioned to revolutionize how healthcare is delivered, particularly in underserved areas.
For those interested in being part of Autoyos’s journey, early access to their EyeD PC app is now available. This is just the beginning of what promises to be a transformative era for new age eye care, with Autoyos leading the charge in AI-enabled, autonomous care solutions.
